The ground it sits on
Every pitch drawn from the USGS elevation model: contours, which way the slope faces, how far to water. And the forest in 3D at true scale — the ridge you are looking at is the ridge you will walk.
Sun, shade and sky
Sunrise at Green Ridge is a fact about a flat horizon. Whether your tent is warm at eight in the morning is a fact about the ridge to your east. Greenridge computes both, for any day of the year, for each site — plus the horizon you would see turning on the spot, and what is overhead after dark.
Getting there
Most of these sites are at the end of a forest road. How far you drive unpaved, the steepest grade on the way in, and how far the cooler travels from car to tent — from OpenStreetMap and the elevation model, with campers’ own road reports on top.
On the ground
